The situation we’re in is mixed across the board — some are finding it easier than others, but focusing on the silver linings and finding the opportunities (or even gifts!) is something we all need to focus on. Staying home is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn about ourselves and our communities — here are five ways to make your journey a little smoother.
1. Find Work-Life Balance
Where you used to have your commute, your afterwork plans, even picking up the kids from school to differentiate the work day from the rest of your life, you now have… well, not much to draw the line. Check out this article for my best tips for how to not let your working life take over your days and nights in lockdown.
2. Have Fun With It
Feeling antsy and wondering how to fill your time? There are so many options! I’ve loved finding new ways of connecting with my loved ones, and still having a laugh with friends via technology and… and knitting like nobody’s business!!! Here are loads more things you can do while hunkering down.
3. Make Your Home a Retreat
If you have a bit more time — say, a week when you were supposed to go on holiday — you could turn your attention to a bigger project. Take some time for yourself, do a spring clean, learn a new skill… and much more.
4. Support Local Producers
Many local businesses are losing money these days, including farmers and producers. If you’re looking for a way to help, ordering veg or meat boxes from farms and other ethical food delivery services is a win-win. You get wonderful food to feed your family, and you help your locals stay afloat.
5. Make Your Food Go Further
When you can’t go food shopping as often as you used to, you might have to make do with what you already have, whether that’s store cupboard essentials or the fresh stuff that lasts longer like root veg. If you’re out of ideas, here are 19 recipes for you!
